WHO ELSE BELONGS ON THIS LIST?
I’M MAKING A LIST
AND I NEED YOUR HELP!
Dear friends,
In an effort to open the eyes of some Trump followers who could still be reachable (brought out of their bubble), I have compiled, with input from my Facebook friends, a list of honorable Republicans and military leaders who now recognize that President Trump is a threat to our Constitution, democracy and freedom. My goal is to share this page with as many Trump followers as possible -- to make them see that there is another way!
The list includes three former Trump cabinet members, four chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, two current senators, five former governors, seven former members of Congress, and more than two dozen public servants, advocates and media critics.
Yet I know there are still some names that need to be added. Can you think of others? Also, can you think of people who don't really belong and should be removed from this page? Let me know on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/columnistmiguelperez
Please help me complete this list so that you too can try to reach Trump followers with some common sense!

What some of them are saying:
"Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people - does not even pretend to try. Instead he tries to divide us." -- James Mattis, Trump’s former Defense Secretary:
“There is a concern, I think an awful big concern, that the partisanship has gotten out of hand, the tribal thing has gotten out of hand . . . I think we need to look harder at who we elect. I think we should look at people that are running for office and put them through the filter: What is their character like? What are their ethics?" -- John Kelly, Trump's former chief of staff and Homeland Security secretary
“As many of you saw the result of the photograph of me at Lafayette Square last week, that sparked a national debate about the role of the military in civil society. I should not have been there. My presence in that moment and in that environment created a perception of the military involved in domestic politics. As a commissioned uniformed officer, it was a mistake that I have learned from, and I sincerely hope we all can learn from it.” -- Gen. Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
Simon & Schuster says Bolton was “astonished” by Trump’s actions, and viewed him as a “president for whom getting reelected was the only thing that mattered, even if it meant endangering or weakening the nation.” -- John Bolton, former National Security Advisor
"Donald Trump isn't religious, has no need of religion, and doesn't care about the devout, except insofar as they serve his political needs...To even the casual observer, Monday was awful for the United States and its democracy. The president's speech was calculated to project his abject and arbitrary power, but he failed to project any of the higher emotions or leadership desperately needed in every quarter of this nation during this dire moment." -- Marine Corps Gen. John Allen, former commander of US forces in Afghanistan
"It sickened me yesterday to see security personnel—including members of the National Guard—forcibly and violently clear a path through Lafayette Square to accommodate the president's visit outside St. John's Church. I have to date been reticent to speak out on issues surrounding President Trump's leadership, but we are at an inflection point, and the events of the past few weeks have made it impossible to remain silent. Whatever Trump's goal in conducting his visit, he laid bare his disdain for the rights of peaceful protest in this country, gave succor to the leaders of other countries who take comfort in our domestic strife, and risked further politicizing the men and women of our armed forces. There was little good in the stunt." -- Navy Adm. Mike Mullen, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under George W. Bush and Obama
"The first thing was just absolute sadness that people aren't allowed to protest and that, as I understand it, that was a peaceful protest that was disturbed by force, and that's not right. That should not happen in America. And so I was sad. I mean, we should all shed tears over that, that particular act. ...I'm glad I don't have to advise this President. I'm sure the senior military leadership is finding it really difficult these days to provide good, sound military advice." -- Air Force Gen. Richard Myers, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under George W. Bush
The Insurrection Act, which would allow Trump to use active-duty military for law enforcement in policing the street protests, should be invoked in the United States “only in the most urgent and dire of situations.” He declared, “We are not in one of those situations now.” -- Defense Secretary Mark Esper
"The one word I have to use with respect to what he (Trump) has been doing for the last several years is a word I never would have used before, I never would have used it with any of the four presidents I have worked for: He lies. He lies about things. And he gets away with it because people would not hold him accountable ... We have a Constitution. And we have to follow that Constitution. And the president has drifted away from it. I’m so proud of what these generals and admirals have done, and others have done." -- Colin L. Powell, a former secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
“I was really thankful. I thought General Mattis’s words were true and honest and necessary and overdue. -- Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski
"So, I have been really sort of grossly fascinated by how neutered President Trump and his administration have been by this extreme crisis. He hasn’t given an interview, or an address to the nation. All he has done . . . "was cross the street and hold up a Bible quite awkwardly which might work for some people in his base, but it’s certainly not working for the vast majority of our population." -- Meghan McCain, "The View"
"Even in a pandemic there are weavers and rippers. The weavers try to spiritually hold each other so we can get through this together. The rippers, from Donald Trump on down, see everything through the prism of politics and still emphasize division." -- David Brooks, NYT conservative columnist
“I think it’s important that there’s a Republican out there every day who says, ‘This is not my Republican Party. This is not what I believe in. I'm not cruel. I’m not bigoted.” -- Joe Walsh, former Illinois Congressman and presidential candidate, conservative talk radio host
“People ask me: Why do I push back against this administration and the president? Because my nose is not a heat-seeking missile for the President’s backside, and people have to stand up and say, and talk clearly, to the American people." -- Former Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Charlie Dent
People listened to Trump’s message in Miami and decided, “you know what, I’ve had it with this kind of tone. I’ve had it with this rhetoric and I’m just going to vote Democrat, I can’t come to any other conclusion . . . It’s just so demeaning, the way that [Trump] talks about individuals who commit the crime of not agreeing with him." -- Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, former Florida Congresswoman
"No modern president has lacked the ability to demonstrate public compassion... Until Trump, that is." -- Elise Jordan, TIME columnist
"What we do not need, clearly, are any more words from our actual president, Donald Trump. Indeed, every time Trump opens his mouth, he creates division and ill will through lies, exaggerations and inflammatory misinformation. Trump's attempt at an inspiring photo op Monday led to actual violence as armed police forcibly cleared space for his arrival, firing chemical gas and smashing journalists and protesters alike with riot shields . . . Americans do not want to hear from a president they have lost faith in . . . Frankly, Trump has failed us over and over again. The country can no longer afford to hear empty words followed by hateful tweets." -- Susan Del Percio, political strategist and analyst
“There is no world where I can sit down at the dining room table and explain to my children that I just endorsed Donald Trump for president,” Horn said. “It is contrary to everything that I have ever taught them about what it means to be a good, decent, principled member of society.” -- Jennifer Horn, communications strategist, former Chair of the NH GOP
“I have been the spokesperson for five presidential Republican campaigns. I have attended the previous five Republican national conventions. I’m not going this year, and I am not campaigning for him. I would never, never, ever vote for the little orange man . . . He’s insulted me, the people I love, the community I represent. He’s for everything I’ve fought against. There is no way I could ask anybody to vote for him. I’m certainly not going to.” -- Rosario Marin, the former U.S. Treasurer under George W. Bush
"I think world leaders are very aware that much or what he says is untrue." -- Former Tennessee Senator Bob Corker
"Fellow Republicans, there's still time to save your souls." -- Former Arizona Senator Jeff Flake
“There is a concern, I think an awful big concern, that the partisanship has gotten out of hand, the tribal thing has gotten out of hand . . . I think we need to look harder at who we elect.
