Qué triste debe ser creer que científicos, militares, académicos, historiadores, economistas y periodistas han dedicado todas su vidas a engañarte, mientras que una estrella de reality TV con décadas de fraude y mentiras muy bien documentadas es tu único faro de verdad y honestidad.

TO MY REPUBLICAN FRIENDS:

If you saw Trump on CNN Wednesday night, and you are not scared about the future of our democracy, if you did not see fascism knocking on our door, I must tell you: I’m worried about you.

If you could not detect the numerous lies he told, if you believe the 2020 election was rigged, if you refuse to accept numerous recounts and more than 60 courts that have rejected that lie, if you believe Mike Pence should have violated the constitution to put Trump back in power, if you are not bothered by Trump's unwillingness to accept the outcome of the next presidential election . . .

If you believe January 6, 2021 was “a beautiful day,” that the rioters who attacked the capitol “were there with love in their hearts” and that they should be pardoned because they are really “patriots” . . .

If you believe him when he downplays the danger of defaulting on our national debt, if you refuse to see that he was responsible for reckless spending during his tenure . . .

If you believe he has the power to declassify top secrets even after he is out of office. If you are proud, as he is, of appointing the justices who overturned Roe v. Wade, if you believe the massacres bleeding our youth are only a mental health problem, not guns . . .

If you were favorably impressed by his disgraceful performance, if you laughed when he called a cop a thug, or the woman he sexually abused “a whack job,” if you believe “stars” can sexually abuse women and get away with it, if you believe Trump’s border policy of separating children from their parents is still a good idea . . .

If you are ready to turn your back on the Ukrainian people and kiss Vladimir Putin’s ass, if you don’t believe Putin should be called a war criminal, if you believe Trump could end the Ukraine war in one day . . .

If you continue to wear blindfolds, and choose to live in his very dark world, if you still don’t see the divisive and corrosive effect of Trumpism, if you don’t see that defeating him is more important than any other issue . . .

If you believe this country should be driven by his lies, anger, hatred and bitterness, I feel sorry for you. But even worse, I feel sorry for what you are doing to our country.
